Experience an Aegean island through a journey built on encounters with local producers, and free time to enjoy island life.
Lemnos occupies a distinctive position among the Greek islands. Right in the middle of it all yet far from the most frequented routes, this multi-faceted north Aegean gem offers a glimpse of a Greece that remains true to its roots, shaped by its traditions, distinctive landscapes, its many beaches, and the generosity of its people.
Throughout this trip, you’ll discover the island’s many sides: ancient sites and mythological legends, traditional villages, family-run vineyards, local specialities and excursions at sea.
Explore Lemnos’s striking natural landscapes, from the unusual rock formations of Faraklou to the sand dunes of Ammothines.
Visit the archaeological site of Hephaistia and the cave associated with the legend of Philoctetes.
Enjoy time outdoors around Aliki lagoon, with opportunities for birdwatching, hiking and swimming at Keros.
Visit a family-run vineyard and an olive grove, and take part in a workshop devoted to Lemnos’s traditional flomaria pasta.
Walk or cycle through the island’s agricultural landscapes and explore traditional villages such as Plati and Kontias.
Spend a day at sea with a local fisherman, with fishing, swimming and lunch on board, or opt for a private cruise along the coast.
Visit the Archaeological Museum of Myrina and hike to the remarkable chapel of Panagia Kakaviotissa, nestled beneath a natural rock shelter.
With a full week on the island, there’s time to take in its many different sides, from its ancient heritage and rural traditions to its striking landscapes and life by the sea. All at a relaxed pace, with time to wander, enjoy the beaches and sample local tavernas.
This trip can also include an optional extension before your stay in Lemnos: Thessaloniki and Kavala
Before travelling to Lemnos, take the opportunity to explore two of northern Greece’s most distinctive cities: Thessaloniki and Kavala. Both have a rich historical and cultural heritage, offering an introduction to Greece’s diversity through their ancient remains, Byzantine monuments, architecture and Mediterranean character.
This optional extension is offered separately from your stay in Lemnos. At the end of the extension, you will travel to the island by plane or ferry, depending on the available connections.
Day 1: Welcome to Lemnos
Arrival in Lemnos by plane or ferry and transfer to your accommodation.
Depending on your arrival time, set off for stroll around Myrina, the island’s charming capital, exploring its harbour, narrow streets and traditional façades. Discover the Venetian fortress overlooking the town, where deer roam freely among the remains of the fortifications.
To round off your first day, settle into a traditional taverna and enjoy dinner showcasing the flavours of local cuisine.

Day 2: Unusual Landscapes and Local Cuisine
Discover Faraklou, in the north of the island, where remarkable rock formations sculpted by the elements have created an otherworldly landscape.
The day continues with a convivial culinary experience, exploring traditional recipes and local produce. Lunch overlooking the sea will give you the chance to savour the generous flavours of island cuisine and share a special moment.
In the afternoon, head to the Ammothines, the remarkable sand dunes of Lemnos. A short walk will take you into the heart of this unexpected, desert-like landscape contrasting with the blue of the Aegean Sea.
Day 3: The Ancient the and Natural Worlds
Discover the east and north-east of Lemnos, a region where ancient history meets remarkable landscapes.
Begin with a visit to the archaeological site of Hephaistia, once an important city, then explore the cave associated with the legend of Philoctetes, a hero of the Trojan War.
You’ll then encounter the flora and fauna of the Aliki salt lagoon, a particularly interesting area for birdwatching, accompanied by a specialist nature guide if you wish.
Windsurfing option: For travellers seeking a thrill, an introductory windsurfing session can be arranged. Others can simply enjoy a swimming break.
Hiking option: Explore the Keros coast and Aliki lagoon on a guided hike of approximately 6 km, along rural tracks and stretches of sand. The hike can also be combined with a swim, depending on conditions.
Day 4: Hiking or Cycling and Visit to a Local Winery
After the previous days’ discoveries, today offers a chance to slow down and explore another side of Lemnos, getting to know its land, its produce, and the people behind it.
Start the day with a hike or a bike ride, discovering the island’s inland landscapes, agricultural land and quiet country lanes.
Continue with a visit to a family-run vineyard. Welcomed by the wine producers, you’ll learn about the distinctive character of Lemnos’s terroir, its grape varieties and local winemaking traditions. The visit ends with a wine tasting, offering a chance to chat with the people who keep the island’s agricultural heritage alive.
Day 5: A Day of Adventure at Sea: Fishing and Swimming
Today, you’ll experience life at sea alongside a local fisherman. Discover the island’s coastline from the water and enjoy swimming stops in the clear waters of the Aegean.
Lunch will be prepared using the day’s catch. If you wish, you can also get involved in preparing the meal, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Alternative without fishing: Set off on a private cruise aboard a traditional kaiki (fishing boat) or a sailing boat, depending on the size of the group. The programme includes sailing along the coast, stops along the way, swimming and lunch on board, allowing you to make the most of the island’s relaxed pace of life.
Return to Myrina in the late afternoon, with free time to wander through its narrow streets or enjoy a drink at an outdoor café before dinner.

Day 6: Culinary Traditions, Local Produce and Traditional Villages
Today celebrates the culinary traditions and rural heritage of Lemnos.
In the morning, discover the secrets of making flomaria, the island’s traditional pasta, in a workshop dedicated to this local craft. Lunch is an opportunity to share a selection of Lemnos specialities, accompanied by cheeses, seasonal vegetables and local wines.
Continue with a visit to an olive grove and a tasting, then spend the afternoon relaxing on a beautiful beach or exploring nearby traditional villages such as Plati or Kontias.
Depending on your interests, you can wander through narrow streets, discover a folk museum, visit an art gallery, or perhaps stop for a Greek coffee in a village café.
Day 7: History, Hiking, and Relaxation around the Town of Myrina
The morning begins with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Myrina. The museum houses a collection of artefacts from various sites across the island, offering a better understanding of the civilisations that have shaped Lemnos over the centuries.
At lunchtime, choose a taverna to suit your tastes, do some shopping, or treat yourself to one more swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean.
In the afternoon, set off on a short hike through unspoilt surroundings to Panagia Kakaviotissa, a remarkable chapel nestled beneath a natural rock shelter.
In the evening, you’ll come together for a festive farewell dinner where you can enjoy local flavours and celebrate the encounters and memories of your trip in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Day 8: Departure from Lemnos
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or port for your departure.
You’ll leave with memories of an island that remains relatively little-known, of its varied landscapes and distinctive local flavours, and of the people you’ve met and experiences you’ve shared.
